Justine Henin was born in Liege, Belgium, on the 1st of June 1982. Henin began playing tennis at an early age, and is said to have been inspired to play the game professionally after witnessing the 1992 French Open final between Monica Seles and Steffi Graf firsthand.

Five years later Henin fulfilled her ambition to win at Roland Garros, winning the Junior French Open title. Two years later she announced her arrival at the highest level of women’s tennis by becoming only the 5th player to win her debut WTA tournament.
